Since 1983, Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon has provided a home-away-from-home for out-of-town families with children who have been diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses and are receiving treatment at BC Children’s Hospital. The House provides a nurturing and supportive environment where families can heal together. In addition, we operate a 2,000 square foot Family Room in Surrey Memorial Hospital, providing families a medical-free space to rest and retreat while steps away from their child.
The second largest House in Canada and the fifth largest in the world, RMHBC will continue to grow to meet the needs of families in BC and Yukon through the addition of Family Rooms and a focus on expanding our reach throughout the communities we serve.
About the Position
Our Family Services Team strives to provide exceptional service and family care in an often busy and fast paced environment. The Family Services Billing Coordinator will work a minimum of 24 hours/week and be responsible for ensuring all aspects of family and direct billing are executed efficiently and in a timely manner. In addition, the Coordinator will help support our front desk team with daily administrative responsibilities. The ideal candidate has excellent communications skills, strong attention to detail, previous experience with direct billing and experience in a front desk setting. Key responsibilities include:
Third Party Billing/Accommodation Revenue
Organize and execute all functions of family payments and direct billing to ensure invoicing is accurate.
Assist with management of accommodation grants and purchase orders.
Manage the month end invoicing procedures to ensure process is completed effectively, meeting any required deadlines.
Provide regular weekly updates and monthly reports.
Work collaboratively with the Finance department for relevant billing information.
Support the Senior Manager, Family Services in coordinating with party payee’s, social workers, and families for payment options.
Front Desk/Administration
Help to organize all daily administrative functions to provide a seamless process for families.
Support front desk with general reception duties – answering phones, email correspondence and other general inquiries.
Support the function of our ‘Virtual Front Desk App’ and send push notifications.
Book appointments for intake and help to maintain schedules.
Support the management of family database.
Provide administrative support to the Family Services Leadership team as needed.

Experience and Educational Requirements
Degree or diploma as Medical Office Assistant or another relevant field.
2+ years’ experience as Medical Office Assistant or other healthcare administrative field.
Experience with Direct Billing and uploading linking files.
Versatility and proficiency in MS Office Suite and other software.
Familiarity with property management/accommodation software an asset
Experience with accounting software an asset.
