The Chief Technology Office (CTO) works to provide overall technology direction while actively supporting key business objectives by enabling the business with innovative and cost effective technologies.

Position Responsibilities

Projects (60%)

Work closely with the business, application, security and IT infrastructure teams to analyse business and technical requirement, and create a solution collaboratively with all the stakeholders that meets HTC current and future business’s objectives

Document and communicate the solution architecture that adheres to architecture principles and standards, ensure all the architecture disciplines have been sufficiently represented on the project

Certify solution implementation aligns with solution architecture and design

Research and recommend new solution, software and technologies as required

Ensure the solution meets current and projected non-functional requirements such as security, high availability, reliability, scalability, auditability, capacity and performance

Engage in the technical change control process, ensuring that changes are defined, test requirements declared and risks/costs/impacts quantified

Architectural Leadership (15%)

Encourage the simplification and streamlining of business processes to deliver strong business benefits at an acceptable risk

Strategic planning and execution of all aspects of data, application, infrastructure and security architecture. This will include documenting current and future state architecture and transformational roadmap that align with business strategy

Work with IT and business subject matter experts to provide highly innovative and creative solutions that achieve quality and process improvements leveraging IT technology investments

Continuous improvement of the solution architecture process and solution design process

Communicating with the various teams and executives to ensure solution alignment

Playing a critical role in the architectural governance reviews and design reviews

Enabling touch points on key projects to ensure success of the overall initiative through effective architecture practices

Ensure solution alignment to business process and requirements, solution functionality integrity and consistency at all required layers (e.g. Application, Data & Information, Security and Infrastructure)

Accountable to document and communicate the costs, risks and benefits of the solution with the stakeholders

Verify stability, interoperability, flexibility, maintainability ,portability, security and scalability of the architecture

Contribute to establishing formalized architecture practices, processes, standards and a centralized architecture repository

Champion architecture best practices, standards and support governance processes

Performance Management and Development (10%)

Participating in defining enterprise architecture solutions to ensure HTC legal, financial and IT requirements are met to mitigate risk

Thinks strategically and recognize the relationships between a company’s processes, capabilities, Applications , Technologies and infrastructure’s components

Keep up-to-date on emerging architectures, technologies, and methodologies

Risk and Compliance (15%)

Contributes to development of/complies with policies & procedures related to enterprise architecture

Works with other internal staff experts to maximize the standardization and efficiency of new policies & procedures

Ensure changes to the system and business solutions are appropriately risk rated

Identify solution implications and risks

Maintain relevant documentation in compliance with regulatory guidelines including AMLTF legislation

Increase knowledge of risk management practices and techniques

Participate in the review of Audit results for IT group

Formal Education

Related Experience

10+ years’ experience in in a medium to large sized IT environment as a solution architecture competency working on modernizations, digitalization and/or complex enterprise solutions

Senior level experience with SaaS platforms, Database Platforms (Traditional and Modern), Middleware platforms, Web and Portal Technologies, Cloud (Public, Private, Hybrid) Deployment, Security (Infrastructure, Data, Application), Master Data Management, Data Warehouse, Data Integration, Big Data, Data Architecture and Data Modelling, Service Oriented Architecture and Mobile Development

Experience with architecting multi-vendor environments on premise, in cloud and/or hybrid model

Ability to evaluate solution options, make decisions based on cost, risks and benefits and execute within the enterprise with multiple stakeholders

Strong capability to adapt business requirements into technical requirements and solutions

Familiarity and experience working with common enterprise products (i.e., Oracle, SAP) and frameworks (ITIL, Zachman, TOGAF, etc.)

Excellent interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation and negotiation

Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills; ability to present and discuss strategies and technical information in a manner that establishes rapport, persuades others, and establishes understanding for technical and non-technical audiences
